Beyond Aperture and ISO ~ leaving my signature

1–2 minutes

when i first started my photography page on instagram, i was an amateur artist. i still am an amateur artist, but one who has found her purpose for creating; her why.

my technical knowledge is disgraceful. i haven’t used my mirrorless camera in two years. i shoot mostly on my phone, which is no longer the best gear on the market.

i never felt like what i was creating was unique or worth someone’s time, because it was flawed.

until

until one day, my best friend looked at my work and said :

you notice what goes unnoticed. you see what others miss and YOU show them.

i was beyond elated. i felt something shift because technique can always be mastered, but having a third eye that sees what others miss is a gift. that thought urged me to rename my page to whatyoumissed.jpeg

a quiet declaration, that maybe i do see something worth sharing.

and so, i decided to make my own definition of photography; to leave my signature.

photography is the art of absorbing the human experience not merely through aperture and iso but through a meditative moment of noticing.

it’s the ability to be cognizant of the breathing and feeling around you.

i agree i’ve got to work on my techniques better. i already am. but for a moment, let me bask in the glory of feeling like what i have is special. like my art is special, is important.

‘cause i know how it feels to see, truly see.
